Nationally recognized prison journalism
Mule Creek Post journalists earned four honors in the 2026 American Penal Press Contest: John L. Orr was named Newsroom Leader of the Year; D. Razor Babb earned third place for Best Opinion Story; O. Rick Bridges earned third place for Best Short-Form Feature; and Gerald McKoy earned third place for Best Sports & Recreation Reporting.
The newsroom was also recognized in the 2025 contest, including third place for Best Newspaper, Jesse Carson as Newsroom Leader of the Year, John L. Orr for long-form writing, and Jason Davis for Best Photo.
